THRISSUR: P.Govindiankutty, who is on remand in Viyyur prison here, has been shifted to the Medical College Hospital here following deterioration of his health condition. He was arrested from Aluva on December 19.
He was fasting since December 20 in the prison and the human rights activists who visited him in the prison on Tuesday alleged that the prison authorities were indulging in forcible feeding of glucose after tying his hands and legs.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued here, the state committee of the Kerala Human Rights Samithi has urged the state Human Rights Commission to inquire into the inhuman treatment accorded to Govindankutty in the prison and take urgent appropriate steps.
