Police seize youths mixed up in Maoist activities

SAMBALPUR, Nov. 23: The police and a Special Operation Group (SOG) have arrested two youths from Purunapani forest area yesterday after a long chase. The arrested persons are Ramesh Dehury of Kayakud village under the Jujomura police station and Jogendra Sabara of Brahmapura village under the Charmal police station, the IIC of Dhama police station, Mr Tapan Kumar Mohanty said.

The two youths were involved in distributing leaflets in the villages instigating people to join as Maoist cadres, organising meetings for the senior cadres of the Maoists.

They were also involved in the Sitlenpali farm house explosion, Mr Mohanty said. Cases had been lodged against them earlier, but they managed to remain to evade arrest. The police have also seized leaflets and uniforms from their possession. They were working under Ganesh Mirdha, who has been arrested last week by the Sambalpur police.

It has further been learnt from reliable sources that the police have detained four more persons, including a woman, and investigating their antecedents. Since last week, the police have arrested eight persons so far, in connection with their involvement in Maoist activities.
