Armed Training School planned in Kudremukh

To impart training to police personnel to deal with naxal and terror menace, Karnataka Government has plans to establish an Armed Training School in Kudremukh in Chikmagalur district, Minister for Home M P Prakash said today.

The state wanted to utilise the infrastructure created by Kudremukh Iron Ore Company, which has shut its operations since 2005 under a Supereme Court order, he told the press here after reviewing the situation in naxal areas with top police officials.

The strenght of the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) will be increased to 1117 from 543, Prakash said.

He ruled out appointing a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) rank to head the ANF.
